There was a significant interval between the Hungarian revolution and the Warsaw Pact invasion, during which the Hungarian team left for the Melbourne Olymipcs.

More interestingly, the Russians apparently waited until the Brits and French took their action in Suez before acting themselves, in new found confidence that the West had given up the moral high ground from which to mount a protest.

On a more personal note, my mother was on vacation in Prague in 1968 and has some interesting pics which I really do need to scan sometime.
